Chapter 06: Healing Factor

 

In his world to combat the Dark Outsiders, the government had enacted certain protocols and manage to use genetic modification and nano technology to push Terran body to the limit.

But even that has a limit. The Terrans are a technological race.

They rise from a hunter gatherer society in their prehistoric time to reaching the stars and colonizing nearby planets.

But, they rely on technology to do this. And they believe that this is the right method to progress

but then they met a magical civilization. This civilization did not play by any rules of physics or math that they have ever seen

They could fly to the Sun and not get burned.

They could swallow planets and eats stars for breakfast. Anti-matter bomb that could have destroy an entire planet would only leave a scratch on them

This is beyond fighting against the limit of Terran body. This aliens that they fight is like Gods in their ancient myths and legends

It didn’t matter that they have thrown everything they had on these invaders.

Nothing works.

Once the army threw them bombs and they could swat it with their hands. Exploded a supernova star to stop one of them, they would only feel a little bit hot.

No matter how extreme the DNA modification get, or how much stronger they could reach with the nano technology, all these invaders needs to do is to swipe their hands and powerful force would bind them and causes them to explode.

It did not matter at all that there is nanobots in the body of the soldier strengthening the soldiers body.

Under the swipe of the hand of these invaders, all of defenses is but paper thin. Arik shook his head as he once again focusses looking at the system store.

But most of the images of these items are dim and dark.

‘Hmm’ Arik did not take much time to understand the reason why. With his intellect he could easily understand when he looks closer.

There is the image of things that he could but and below that image is the merit point necessary to buy it.

The reason why the pictures on the system store is dim is simply because the merit point needed to redeem these stuff is something that he could not afford.

He uses his finger to scroll down the categories.

Unless he presses a certain category tab, the list would not drop down so he could skip off the category of things that he did not want.

He looks at the system store and then he found the section he wanted to check

‘Here it is’ He look at the ability section

He pushes the ability section plus tab and a drop down list appears.

Arik could not believe what he saw.

The amount of ability in the ability section is endless.

‘Haish’ he complains. Arik look at it and most of the ability is dim

The merit point he have is very small compared to the price tag.

Some even have million merit point price tag. What he saw that is considered to be one million merit point is Hyper Strength.

If he had to scroll so many abilities to find an ability he could buy with a meager one thousand merit points, that would take a long time so he simply said.

‘Calypso, is it possible to sort out the list?’

[Affirmative]

Arik nodded and then said

‘Only list abilities that I could buy’

[Your request has been accomplished, young master]

And then from the tens of thousands of abilities, there is now only a few thousand skills.

It is still a lot of abilities for him to sort out. Arik frowned and then issued another order

‘Hmm. List only the abilities that could help me right now in the current situation’

[Affirmative. Simulating current situation and finding the most appropriate ability to ensure survival of the host]

Arik waited but it did not take long at all. This time, the abilities that he could buy is narrowed again.

Arik nodded to himself

‘This is short enough and appropriate enough’ he thought to himself. Then he began to look at the abilities. Now it is not as cluttered as before.

[Strength] [Running] [Jumping] [Weapon Mastery] [Fighting] The first few abilities that he had saw, all of it would be useful for his current situation whether it be Strength or Running.

There are many abilities but most of it is basic abilities. But one ability in particular stood out for him

It was [Healing Factor] he taps the Healing Factor abilities and the description of that ability popped out

The healing factor is the ability to rapidly heal and get restored to their optimal and full health/state at an extremely fast rate.

healing factor is a process that happens unconsciously without the need for activation, resulting in a constant state of optimal health.

When it is upgraded to a more powerful level, the healing factor could also recreate lost or damaged tissues, organs, and limbs, sometimes slowing, or even stopping aging

Arik look at it and his eyes shines

 ‘Now this is what I need’ he thought to himself. Earth doesn’t have hospitals like his planet

In his planet, every time people get old, they could just reverse it. But not aging and not dying is not the same

And even though his planet does have a place where they could easily regrow back their arms, Arik doesn’t think that there is such an ability unless it is implanted.

He looks at the price of the skill and it just right at that 1000 merit points

Right now, he did not know how he got one thousand point of merits points and he did not know the logic behind this system.

All he knows right now is that this is something that could help him.

And he is very practical.

After all, his only mission right now is to survive.

He carries the sad fate of his broken world.

‘Redeem’ he thought to himself and he could see the merit point drained from his status window and then suddenly he could feel his body is filled with energy.

He did not know how to explain it.

And then he could see that the little wooden on his hands and his feet is quickly healing

‘It is a bit like a nanobots healing’ his world also has that kind of technology but Arik knows there is limit to the nanotechnology methods.

It is not a bad thing to use this magical system to help him

He then looks at his status window

Arik then look around him.

he goes to the window and look at the distance.

Even though it is hard to see because of the night, he could still see the fire rising to the clouds and the smokes around it

He could also hear the sound of helicopters flying around. He waited for almost fifteen minutes before he could no longer hear any sounds

By now, all of his injuries had been healed. Arik is quite surprised. But while he is healed he now feel hungry

‘Does it have something to do with the healing?’ he thought to himself.

This is a barn but he does saw a house beside the barn. He usually would not steal thing from people but right now it is not like he had many choices.

He went down the loft and grabs a screwdriver, and goes to that house. It did not take long for him to arrive at the front door.

He had already confirmed that nobody is home so he looks at the door.

‘It did not have any defensive measure. This community must be a trusting community’ he thought to himself.

However, this thought is fleeting as right now Arik feel really hungry.

He jammed the screwdriver on the hinges of the door and then crack it on the other side and the door is pried open.

His hand was scratched in the process.

Even though he had Healing Factor, he did not have strength. And the nano suit that he wears is almost out of energy.

He did not want to use it unless it is necessary.

He looks at the scratch and he could see it is already healing.

Arik opens the door and walk inside the house.

He did not open the lights to not attract attention. And even if he wanted to he could not. His landing created a blackout in the entire state of Kansas

His eyes seem to be able to see in the dark. Of course all he sees is silhouette. Maybe as he runs in the dark earlier his eyes had adjusted.

The physique of his people is that different from the physique of humans in this planet Earth

Not before long as he rummages through the front porch he finally arrives at the kitchen and found the fridge.

He opens it and saw a few pies and he grabs it and started eating it.

After almost a few minutes of slurping the food down his throat, finally Arik felt the hunger in his body abated a bit

‘Now, how to escape?’
